Theory: Chlor-Alkali Process

Why is it called Chlor-Alkali?
Because of the products formed: Chlor for Chlorine and Alkali for Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH).

Important Uses of Products:

• Hydrogen (H₂): Used as fuel, margarine, and ammonia for fertilizers.
• Chlorine (Cl₂): Used for water treatment, swimming pools, PVC, and pesticides.
• Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH): Used for de-greasing metals, manufacturing soaps and detergents, and paper making.
